Hobbit Feet

Projects for the LOTR fanatic who needs to do something.

The eponymous Hobbit Feet, instructions for realistic, reusable hair to wear on your feet (can also be used to make eyebrows stick out past the brim of your hat).

Instructions for the making of a traditional round shield, in a real, battle-ready form. (Could also be used, with your own modifications and creativity, to make heaters, kite shields, and maybe even movie-style shields.)

Instructions for the making of swords, both long and broad, which are not even close to battle ready. Simple padded swords for light sparring between unarmored but sensible people.

Coming: instructions for making a pell (striking target) for sword practice, and for turning a hardwood dowel into a more realistic waster (wooden practice sword).

Resources

The best replica swords, in terms of real, battle-ready swords, are at Museumreplicas.com.

LOTR swords are sold at Museumreplicas.com, the authorized movie swords. Southsummit.com also sells authorized movie replicas. Just watch out for the cheap unauthorized versions, and never practice with your LOTR sword! (movie replicas are not built to withstand that sort of use.)
